let's get a head count and give me some ideas.. changeling.
Hellooooo....count me in....
we are great friends now....but he wasn't much of a father growing up.. worked all the time...we went on few vacations....pretty much pussy whipped my my nazis jw mother.. he never did believe in the whole jw thing.
he just when along with it, for my mothers sake.. she never did respect him for not being a "spiritual head" and pretty much let us kids know about it.. i, like my mother became very self rightious and judgmental.. i wished now he had just came to me just once and said "keith maybe the jws are not the people you think they are.
" but he was to afraid of my mother to say that...even though he knew it to be true.i would have never believed him....back then....but it would have planted a seed.... .
My dad became JW along with my mom when I was about 2-so that was a little over 40 years ago. My mom quit the religion a couple of years later-she couldn't play by their "rules"...but he somehow seemed to get something from them that he needed. He was a wonderful man, truly humble and loving to everyone he met.
I quit the JW's at the age of 19-was never baptised though-therefore, even though my dad was truly heartbroken that I wasn't a part of it all anymore, he never shunned me. I moved out, got married, had kids, and he became a wonderful grandfather to them. He became an elder after I had left home, but I think he was one of those few elders that truly cared about the people around him.
When he was 56, he was getting ready to take my four year old daughter on a camping trip along with my mom-he was outside setting up the trailer to pack it for their trip and died of a heart attack. The last sounds he heard were of his little grand daughter laughing and playing in the yard.
Getting that phone call was the worst day of my life...I'll never forget it and I'll never forget him, even though it has been over 15 years since that day.
Here's to you dad!

thought we could all use a bit of a lighter humorous subject to start our weeks up a bit easier .
so what weird or off beat, funny experiences have happened to you in your past or recently that was comical, funny or just bizarre ?
would like to hear from you.
When my first born(who is now 20) was a baby, I was laying on my back and was tossing her up into the air(she was facing downwards, looking at me). I had tossed her up a few times, she was laughing-I was laughing, when all of a sudden the apple juice she had just drank recently came up and guess where it landed? Yup-right in my mouth.
Never did that again-at least not without keeping my mouth closed!!!
Probably more gross than funny....LIG
for those who missed the drama, you can check it out here if you wish to www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/140100/1.ashx.
for those who know a little about my past and my mother - she had the nerve to call me today and leave an urgent message for me to call her.
i thought it was about my dad or that something bad had happened since her last comment to me was that i was dead to her, or something to that effect.
Your hubby sounds like one smart cookie!!!

hi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.
i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.
i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.
Welcome to the board Julie!!!!
We were all so sorry to hear of the loss of Linda...it might be healing for you to converse here with others who knew and loved her too....

how many on this forum enjoy drinking wine or beer?
on what occasions do you drink wine or beer?
these are start off ?
Wine gives me the worst hangover in the world the next day-can't get out of bed....so I stick to beer, and only on the weekend-never if I have to work the next day.

yoga anyone?.
the yoga instructor passes around little sandalwood scented eye pillows, pops in a "mood music" cd, and dims the lights.
we all sit cross legged on our slightly sticky mats.
Two years ago I began taking a Yoga/Pilates fusion class once a week for an hour. It's amazing how great you feel when you walk out of there---refreshed and re-energized.
The Pilates is such a great ab workout...and mixed with the Yoga it becomes a perfectly balanced hour that is just for ME. I wouldn't give it up for anything!!
